The last time Dr. Bijingni Kuwoh Pius worked with the Public Service in Cameroon was as Director of the Limbe Regional Hospital. However, just when he was handing over from the post of Director of the Limbe Regional Hospital, he received a call requesting him to work as a Consultant with the Performance Based Financing (PBF) project in Yagoua in the Far North Region. The Non-Governmental Organization IRESCO was chosen to execute the project. Higher Clinical Training Institute Douala launches Training Courses for Nurses

-Evening Classes Available for Working Class students  The Higher Clinical Training Institute (HICTI) Mambanda, Douala has launched a training programme for those who wish to pursue a career in Nursing.  Text books to be used during the training programme according to the Medical Director have already been supplied by the British Medical Association (BMA). He also intimated that Graduates of HICTI Douala are certified by an American University. “They receive Advanced International Diplomas, BSc and Masters Degrees” he said. Meantime, students will receive lectures from very experienced Lecturers with not less than 5 years of experience in the nursing field. Among other things, studies at HICTI Douala use the 30% theory and 70% practical approach. Students also benefit from two months of paid internship in any hospital or clinic of their choice. The COVID 19 Vaccine and Conspiracy Theories

In Cameroon for example, the belief that COVID doesn’t affect the African as much as it affects persons of the White Race have been widely peddled and this pushed many to drop their guard resulting in the rising number of infected people that has been noticed recently.  Many people who are sick in Cameroon are actually afraid to go to the hospital because they believe they will be injected and then declared COVID 19 positive.  Doctor Denis Nsame Nforniwe is the Director of the Bamenda Regional Hospital. This Medical Doctor with 20 years of experience also served as Director of the Limbe Regional Hospital before being transferred to Bamenda where he replaced Dr Kingue Thompson who was also transferred from Bamenda to Limbe as Director of the Limbe Regional Hospital. In this interview which is dominantly focused on efforts to combat the deadly COVID-19 Pandemic, the Medical Doctor states that COVID 19 tests are now done in Bamenda. CNA Rounds up 8th Scientific Conference and 20th Anniversary Celebrations

By Francis Ekongang Nzante The Cameroon Nurses Association CNA recently rounded up it’s 8th Scientific Conference and it’s 20th Anniversary Celebrations in Bamenda, the Northwest Regional Heart Quarters. This two yearly event took place at the Main Hall of the North West Regional Special Fund for Health Promotion within the confines of the Regional Hospital under the theme “Nurses Leading The Way To A Safe, Healthy And Peaceful World.” The two day event which ran from February 26th to the 27th was spiced by Scientific presentations and panel discussions that touched on ways of improving not only the conditions of practice of the nurse, but also encouraged the average Cameroonian Nurse to further empower themselves by furthering their education in Nursing to the highest possible levels.  In this vein, Professor Bih Mary Atanga of the Department of Nursery and Midwifery at the University of Bamenda said this was the only way to stop that condescending attitude that nurses always received
